Noe Valley Word Week Literary Festival in March
The Friends of Noe Valley neighborhood association is producing the 10th annual Word Week as a part of Noe Valley’s literary festival. The event will include nine events from Sunday, March 20th until Saturday March 26.
All events during Word Week are FREE and open to everyone. Events include Word Wit, Work Week, Women in Their Own Write, Stories, Stickers, and Scribbles, In Translation, Noir at the Bar, How to Get Your Book Published, Queer Words: LGBT Authors, and Does Your Cat Love You? Sunday night will kick off the week with comedy performances by comedians Liz Stone, Mike Capozzola, Joe Nguyen, and Nicole Calasich. Dr. Brandon R. Brown, author of Planck: Driven by Vision, Broken by War, will present as part of the long-running reading series at Odd Mondays. Tuesday will feature Burnita Bluitt, Ruth Galm, and Janis Cooke Newman reading from their books, Quiver of the Pure Heart, A Master Plan for Rescue, and Into the Valley respectively.
The busiest day of Word Week is Wednesday, featuring the morning children’s event, Stories, Stickers, and Scribbes. Corey M.P. will be providing an interative storytime with her two books, Mr. Dinosaur Is Hiding and Green Bird Loves to Count. In Translation starts off the evenings events where author Christopher Kloeble will read from his novel, Almost Everything Very Fast. The Noir at the Bar event will cap off the evening with a 1940’s theme while listening to listening to Cara Black, Alejandro Murguia, Kelli Stanley, Domenic Stansberry, and Lia Volz.
The most popular program of Word Week happens on Thursday night as publishers Christine Carswell and Andy Ross lead the How to Get Your Book Published event. Three authors will also feature on the panel to give tips and share their experience in getting their books published. The authors will include, Scott Hutchins, A Working Theory of Love, Genanne Walsh, Twister, and Wayne Goodman, The Seed of Immortality. All three authors will be on hand to sign autographs.
Friday nights event, Queer Words: LGBT Authors, will feature award-winning authors Wilfredo Pascual, Anne Raeff, and Roberto F. Santiago. To wrap up Word Week, Saturday will feature Dr. Tony Buffington to talk about his new online book, Cat Mastery, during the event, Does Your Cat Love You?
